The picturesque and historic market town of
Nantwich is set deep in the heart of the Cheshire countryside.
For many years
it's fashionable shops, pubs, restaurants and places of particular historical
interest have maintained it's reputation as one of the county's most popular
tourist destinations.
Churches' Mansion (pictured right) is
just one of the many fine examples of Tudor architecture to be found in a town
that dates back hundreds of years.
St. Mary's church stands
proud in the centre of Nantwich and is visible for many a mile around. The
church, which dates back to the 14th century, is widely regarded as one of the
finest of all medieval churches in the land.
Nantwich is built around the
extensive salt(brine) reserves so abundant at one time throughout
Cheshire.
The term Wyche (Wich) from which Nantwich is derived refers
to this and the suffix is found in other Cheshire towns such as Northwich and
Middlewich

Nantwich's nightlife and annual events have
something for everyone.
Whether it's fine food, a pub night, music or
clubbing there is something here to suit everyone's tastes.
Many of
Nantwich's pubs offer excellent food, a great atmosphere and accomodation for
the weary traveller. CAMRA pubs are rife with The Black Lion, The Red Cow and The Vine all continuing to fly the flag for Real Ale in a traditional English pub
setting..
